Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical accidents.
2. Replace Fuel Cap
  • Tools Required: None (if just replacing the cap)
  • Remove the old fuel cap and replace it with a new OEM fuel cap.
  • Ensure it clicks into place securely.
3. Inspect and Replace Fuel Pump (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, fuel line disconnect tool, torque wrench
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay and starting the engine until it stalls.
  • Remove the rear seat cushion to access the fuel pump access panel.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines from the pump.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring and remove the pump assembly.
  • Replace with a new fuel pump, ensuring all connections are secure.
  • Reinstall the access panel and rear seat cushion.
4. Check and Clean EVAP System Components
  • Tools Required: Socket set, vacuum pump
  • Locate the EVAP purge valve and charcoal canister.
  • Disconnect the purge valve and inspect for blockages; clean if necessary.
  • Test the purge valve operation using a vacuum pump; replace if it does not hold vacuum.
  • Inspect the charcoal canister for cracks or blockages; replace if necessary.
5. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the battery terminals and ensure they are secure.
  • Clear any error codes using the OBD-II scanner.
