Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely lifted.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Leaking Components
  • Steering Rack Removal
    • Disconnect the steering column from the steering rack (remove the pinch bolt).
    • Remove the tie rod ends using a ball joint separator.
    • Unbolt the steering rack from its mounting points (typically 4 bolts).
    • Carefully slide the steering rack out from under the vehicle.
3. Inspect and Replace Seals
  • Seal Inspection
    • Examine all seals and O-rings for wear or damage.
  • Seal Replacement
    • Remove old seals from the steering rack using a seal puller.
    • Clean the grooves where the new seals will be installed.
    • Install new seals, ensuring they are seated properly.
4. Reassemble Components
  • Reinstall Steering Rack
    • Slide the steering rack back into position and secure it with bolts to the mounting points (torque to manufacturer specifications).
    • Reattach the tie rod ends and secure them.
    • Reconnect the steering column (tighten the pinch bolt securely).
5. Refill and Bleed Power Steering System
  • Fluid Refill
    • Fill the power steering reservoir with the manufacturer-recommended fluid.
  • System Bleeding
    • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to bleed air from the system.
    • Check fluid level again and top off as necessary.
