Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Needed: Multimeter, battery tester, wrench set, wire brush, safety gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Safety Warning: Ensure the vehicle is turned off and parked in a safe location. Wear safety gloves and glasses while handling the battery.
2. Clean Battery Terminals
  • Disconnect the negative (-) terminal first, followed by the positive (+) terminal.
  • Use a wire brush to clean any corrosion from the battery terminals and cable connections.
  • Reconnect the positive (+) terminal first, then the negative (-) terminal.
3. Jump Start the Vehicle
  • Connect a jump starter or another vehicle's battery using jumper cables:
    1. Connect the positive (+) cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery.
    2. Connect the other end of the positive (+) cable to the positive terminal of the good battery.
    3. Connect the negative (-) cable to the negative terminal of the good battery.
    4. Connect the other end of the negative (-) cable to an unpainted metal surface on the car with the dead battery (not directly to the negative terminal).
  • Start the vehicle with the good battery, then attempt to start the dead vehicle.
4. Replace Battery (if necessary)
  • If the battery fails the load test or does not hold a charge, replace it:
    1. Disconnect the battery terminals as described in step 2.
    2. Remove any securing brackets or clamps holding the battery in place.
    3. Lift the old battery out of the tray and install the new battery in reverse order.
    4. Reconnect the terminals (positive first, then negative) and ensure tight connections.
