Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, jack, jack stands, strut spring compressor.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues while working.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which struts are being replaced.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  1. Remove the wheel to access the strut.
  2. Locate and remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle.
  3. Remove any brake line or sensor clips attached to the strut.
  4. Detach the upper strut mount bolts located under the hood or in the trunk.
  5. Carefully pull the strut assembly out of the vehicle.
4. Inspect and Replace
  • Tools Required: Strut spring compressor.
  1. Use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the coil spring.
  2. Remove the top nut of the strut mount and detach the coil spring from the strut.
  3. Inspect the strut for signs of fluid leakage or physical damage.
  4. If worn, replace the strut with a new one.
  5. Reassemble in reverse order, ensuring all bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications.
5. Reinstall and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reconnect the battery.
