Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Inspect and Replace Brake Fluid
  • a. Open the hood and locate the master cylinder reservoir.
  • b. Check the fluid level; if low, top off with the manufacturer-recommended brake fluid (DOT 4).
  • c. If the fluid is dark or contaminated, drain the old fluid using a brake bleeder tool.
3. Brake Bleeding
  • a. Attach a brake bleeder kit to the brake caliper bleeder screw.
  • b. Have an assistant pump the brake pedal several times, then hold it down.
  • c. Open the bleeder screw to allow fluid and air to escape, then close it before the pedal is released.
  • d. Repeat for each wheel until clear fluid is observed, starting from the wheel farthest from the master cylinder.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Components
  • a. Remove the wheel to access the brake components.
  • b. Inspect brake pads for thickness; replace if below 3mm.
  • c. Check rotors for scoring or warping; replace if necessary.
  • d. Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle.
5. Test Brake Booster
  • a. With the engine off, press the brake pedal several times to deplete the vacuum in the booster.
  • b. Start the engine while pressing the pedal; the pedal should sink slightly, indicating the booster is functioning correctly.
