Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical issues during repairs.
2. Engine Oil Change
  • Drain the engine oil:
    • Place an oil catch pan under the oil pan.
    • Remove the oil drain plug with a socket wrench and allow oil to drain completely.
  • Replace the oil filter:
    • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
    • Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket on the new oil filter and install it by hand, tightening it until snug.
  • Refill with the correct type and amount of engine oil as specified in the owner’s manual.
3. Spark Plug Replacement
  • Remove the ignition coils:
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil.
    • Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts securing the coils and lift them out.
  • Replace the spark plugs:
    • Use a spark plug socket to remove the old plugs.
    • Check the gap on the new plugs with a feeler gauge and adjust if necessary.
    • Install new plugs by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten to the manufacturer’s torque specification.
  • Reinstall the ignition coils in reverse order.
4. Inspect and Adjust Timing
  • If timing is suspected, remove the timing cover:
    • Use a socket set to remove bolts securing the timing cover.
    • Inspect for any misalignment or wear in the timing chain/belt.
  • Adjust timing as necessary by following the timing alignment marks.
  • Reassemble the timing cover and torque the bolts to specification.
