Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials needed.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, safety glasses, gloves.
  • Remove the rear seat cushion to access the fuel pump access panel.
  • Unscrew and remove the access panel to reach the fuel pump assembly.
3. Remove the Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Disconnect the fuel lines from the pump carefully to avoid spilling fuel.
  • Unplug the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Unscrew and remove the retaining ring holding the fuel pump assembly in place.
  • Carefully lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank.
4. Inspect and Replace the Fuel Pump
  • Inspect the old pump for signs of wear or damage.
  • If replacement is needed, install the new fuel pump into the assembly:
    • Ensure the rubber gasket is in place.
    • Position the pump securely and tighten the retaining ring to the specified torque (usually around 20 Nm, refer to service manual).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Replace the access panel and secure it with screws.
  • Reinstall the rear seat cushion.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and check for any leaks or abnormal sounds.
