Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and turn off the ignition.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Check and Top Up Power Steering Fluid
  • Remove the power steering fluid reservoir cap.
  • Use a clean funnel to add the appropriate type of power steering fluid (check owner’s manual for specifications).
  • Replace the cap securely.
3. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Pump (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, fluid catch pan, screwdriver, new power steering pump, new O-rings or seals.
  • Disconnect the power steering hoses from the pump using a wrench. Allow fluid to drain into the catch pan.
  • Remove the mounting bolts securing the power steering pump to the engine using the socket set.
  • Carefully lift the power steering pump out of its mounting position.
  • Install the new power steering pump by reversing the removal steps, ensuring all seals are properly seated.
  • Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 20-25 Nm, but check the service manual).
4. Reconnect Power Steering Hoses
  • Reattach the power steering hoses to the new pump, ensuring they are tightened securely.
  • Refill the power steering fluid reservoir as needed.
5. Bleed Power Steering System
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to purge air from the system.
  • Check the fluid level and top off if necessary.
