Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Socket set
  • Brake cleaner
  • Torque wrench
  • C-clamp or brake tool for caliper compression
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is still on the ground.
  • Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove caliper mounting bolts using a socket wrench.
  • Carefully lift the caliper off the rotor; do not stretch the brake line.
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • If the pads are worn down to the backing or below the minimum thickness, replace them.
  • Apply brake lubricant to the back of the new pads before installation.
  • Reinstall the new pads into the caliper bracket.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors (if necessary)
  • Check the rotor for grooves or warping; if damaged, they need replacement.
  • If replacing, remove the caliper bracket to access the rotor.
  • Remove retaining screws and slide the rotor off the hub.
  • Install the new rotor and secure it with retaining screws.
5. Reassemble Braking System
  • Compress the caliper piston using a C-clamp or brake tool to make room for the thicker pads.
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and rotor.
  • Tighten the caliper mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
6. Lower Vehicle and Final Checks
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specified torque in a crisscross pattern.
  • Reconnect the battery.
