Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: OBD-II scanner, socket set, transmission fluid pump, fluid catch pan, multimeter, and torque wrench.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is off.
2. Check and Change Transmission Fluid
  1. Check Fluid Level:
    • Remove the transmission dipstick and wipe it clean.
    • Reinsert and remove the dipstick again to check the fluid level; top up if low.
  2. Change Fluid:
    • Place a catch pan under the transmission pan.
    • Remove the transmission pan bolts (usually a socket wrench is required).
    • Carefully lower the transmission pan and allow old fluid to drain completely.
    • Replace the transmission filter if applicable (some models may not have a serviceable filter).
    • Clean the pan and replace the gasket to prevent leaks.
    • Reinstall the pan with the bolts torqued to the manufacturer's specifications.
    • Use a fluid pump to add new transmission fluid through the dipstick tube, ensuring to use the recommended fluid type.
3. Inspect and Replace Torque Converter (if necessary)
  1. Remove Transmission:
    • Disconnect the battery, and support the vehicle safely on jack stands.
    • Remove the driveshaft and any electrical connectors attached to the transmission.
    • Unbolt the transmission from the engine and lower it carefully.
  2. Remove Torque Converter:
    • Unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate.
    • Remove the torque converter from the input shaft of the transmission.
  3. Install New Torque Converter:
    • Align the new torque converter with the input shaft and push it into place.
    • Bolt it to the flex plate securely.
  4. Reinstall Transmission:
    • Lift the transmission back into position and secure it to the engine.
    • Reattach the driveshaft and electrical connectors.
