Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, torque wrench, socket set, brake cleaner, and safety goggles.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the vehicle and support it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheels using the lug wrench.
3. Remove Brake Components
  • 3.1. Remove Caliper

    • Disconnect the caliper by removing the caliper bolts using a socket.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and hang it using a bungee cord to avoid straining the brake line.
  • 3.2. Remove Brake Pads

    • Slide out the brake pads from their brackets.
    • Inspect for wear; if less than 3mm thick, replace.
  • 3.3. Remove Rotor

    • If necessary, remove the rotor by unscrewing any retaining screws and sliding it off the hub.
    • Clean the hub surface with brake cleaner.
4. Inspect and Replace
  • 4.1. Inspect Brake Components

    • Examine the calipers for any leaks or damage.
    • Check the rotor for warping or deep grooves. Replace if necessary.
  • 4.2. Install New Brake Components

    • If replacing pads, install new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
    • If replacing rotors, install the new rotor onto the hub and secure with screws.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • 5.1. Reattach Caliper

    • Slide the caliper over the new pads and rotor.
    • Tighten caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • 5.2. Replace Wheel and Lower Vehicle

    • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
    • Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to manufacturer specifications.
6. Brake Fluid Check
  • Inspect and top off brake fluid if necessary.
  • Check for leaks around the caliper and lines.
