Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Lift Vehicle and Remove Wheels
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel lug nuts using a socket set and take off the wheels.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspection: Examine each brake pad for uneven wear patterns.
  • Replacement:
    1. If uneven wear is detected, remove the caliper bolts with a socket set.
    2. Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it with a bungee cord (do not hang it by the brake line).
    3. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
    4. Compress the caliper piston using a brake caliper tool to fit new pads.
    5. Install the new brake pads in the caliper bracket.
    6. Reattach the caliper over the new pads and torque the caliper bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 25-30 Nm).
4. Check Brake Rotors
  • Inspect rotors for grooves or warping. If damaged, replace them.
  • If rotors are within specification, clean them with brake cleaner and reinstall.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheels and tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
  • Recheck the lug nut torque after the vehicle is on the ground.
