Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather required tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the ignition is off.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Check and Refill Brake Fluid
  • Tools Required: Brake fluid, funnel
  • Open the master cylinder reservoir cap.
  • Inspect the brake fluid; if it’s low, add the appropriate type of brake fluid as specified in the owner’s manual.
  • Replace the cap securely after refilling.
3. Inspect Brake Lines and Calipers
  • Tools Required: Visual inspection, flashlight
  • Visually inspect brake lines for any signs of wear, cracks, or leaks.
  • Check the brake calipers for any fluid leaks or corrosion.
  • If leaks are found, replace the affected brake lines or calipers as necessary.
4. Bleed the Brake System
  • Tools Required: Brake bleeder kit, wrench, brake fluid
  • Start with the brake furthest from the master cylinder (usually the right rear).
  • Attach the bleeder kit to the bleeder valve on the brake caliper.
  • Open the bleeder valve and pump the brake pedal until fluid flows without bubbles.
  • Close the valve and repeat for the remaining brakes in the correct order (right rear, left rear, right front, left front).
  • Ensure to keep the master cylinder topped up during the process.
5. Test Brake Booster
  • Tools Required: None
  • With the engine off, press the brake pedal several times to deplete any vacuum.
  • Start the engine; the brake pedal should drop slightly indicating the brake booster is functioning correctly.
