Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jumper cables, a functional vehicle (donor vehicle).
  • Ensure both vehicles are in park (automatic) or neutral (manual) with their ignitions off.
  • Open the hoods of both vehicles and locate the batteries.
2. Connect Jumper Cables
  1. Identify Terminals:

    • Find the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on both the dead battery and the donor battery.
  2. Attach Jumper Cables:

    • Connect one end of the red (positive) jumper cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery.
    • Connect the other end of the red jumper cable to the positive terminal of the donor battery.
    • Connect one end of the black (negative) jumper cable to the negative terminal of the donor battery.
    • Connect the other end of the black jumper cable to an unpainted metal surface on the dead vehicle (ground) away from the battery.
3. Start the Donor Vehicle
  • Start the engine of the donor vehicle and let it run for a few minutes to charge the dead battery.
4. Start the BMW
  • Attempt to start the BMW 3 Series G20/G21. If it does not start after a few attempts, wait a few more minutes and try again.
5. Disconnect Jumper Cables
  1. Once the BMW starts, carefully disconnect the jumper cables in reverse order:
    • Remove the black cable from the ground of the dead vehicle.
    • Remove the black cable from the donor battery.
    • Remove the red cable from the donor battery.
    • Remove the red cable from the dead battery.
6. Allow the Vehicle to Charge
  • Keep the BMW running for at least 20-30 minutes to allow the alternator to recharge the battery fully.
