Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather Tools:
    • Multimeter
    • Battery load tester
    • Wrench set
    • Cleaning supplies (baking soda and water)
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
    • Disconnect the battery before working on electrical connections.
2. Clean Battery Terminals
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Mix a solution of baking soda and water.
    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal first, followed by the positive (+) terminal.
    3. Apply the solution to the terminals and connectors to neutralize corrosion.
    4. Scrub with a wire brush until clean, and rinse with water.
    5. Dry thoroughly before reconnecting.
3. Replace Battery (if necessary)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Ensure all electrical loads are turned off.
    2. Remove the negative (-) terminal first, then the positive (+) terminal.
    3. Unscrew any retaining brackets and lift the old battery out.
    4. Place the new battery in the tray and secure it with brackets.
    5. Connect the positive (+) terminal first, followed by the negative (-) terminal.
    6. Tighten all connections and ensure they are secure.
4. Test the Charging System
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Start the engine and use the multimeter to measure the battery voltage.
    2. Confirm voltage is between 13.7 and 14.7 volts.
    3. If the voltage is low, inspect and potentially replace the alternator.
