Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Strut spring compressor
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely lifted before starting work.
    • Wear safety goggles and gloves.
2. Remove the Strut Assembly
  1. Lift the Vehicle: Use a jack to raise the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  2. Remove the Wheel: Take off the wheel corresponding to the strut being replaced.
  3. Disconnect the Stabilizer Link: Unbolt the stabilizer bar link from the strut.
  4. Remove the Brake Line Bracket: Detach any brackets holding the brake line to the strut.
  5. Unbolt the Strut from the Knuckle: Remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle.
  6. Unbolt the Strut from the Upper Mount: Open the hood and unbolt the strut from the upper mount in the engine bay.
  7. Remove the Strut Assembly: Carefully remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.
3. Inspect and Replace Components
  1. Inspect the Strut: Check for any signs of damage or wear on the strut assembly.
  2. Use a Spring Compressor: If the strut assembly includes a spring, use a spring compressor to safely remove the coil spring from the strut.
  3. Replace if Necessary: If the strut is deemed faulty, replace it with a new unit. Reassemble using new strut mounts if worn.
4. Reinstall the Strut Assembly
  1. Position the Strut: Place the strut assembly back into the vehicle's suspension.
  2. Bolt the Upper Mount: Secure the strut to the upper mount with the original bolts, tightening to manufacturer's torque specifications.
  3. Reconnect the Knuckle: Bolt the strut to the steering knuckle securely.
  4. Reattach Brake Line Bracket: Reconnect the brake line bracket to the strut.
  5. Reconnect Stabilizer Link: Reattach the stabilizer link to the strut.
  6. Reinstall Wheel: Put the wheel back on and lower the vehicle.
