Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

Tools Required:

  • OBD-II scanner
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Fuel injector cleaning kit or pressurized cleaning tool
  • Safety goggles and gloves
2. Remove Fuel Injectors
  1. Remove Engine Cover: Use a socket set to remove any bolts securing the engine cover and carefully lift it off.
  2. Depressurize Fuel System: Remove the fuel pump fuse and start the engine until it stalls, relieving fuel pressure.
  3. Disconnect Fuel Lines: Carefully disconnect the fuel supply and return lines from the fuel rail using appropriate tools, ensuring to catch any residual fuel.
  4. Unplug Electrical Connectors: Disconnect the electrical connectors from each fuel injector.
  5. Remove Fuel Rail: Unbolt the fuel rail from the intake manifold and gently lift it, which will also remove the injectors.
3. Clean Fuel Injectors
  1. Setup Cleaning Kit: Attach the fuel injector cleaning kit to the fuel rail connections according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Add Cleaning Solution: Fill the cleaning kit reservoir with a high-quality fuel injector cleaner.
  3. Run Cleaning Cycle: Activate the cleaning kit to run the cleaning solution through the injectors. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedure, usually for about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Inspect Injectors: After cleaning, visually inspect the injectors for any remaining deposits and ensure they are functioning correctly.
4. Reassemble Components
  1. Reinstall Fuel Injectors: Carefully place the cleaned injectors back into the fuel rail, ensuring they seat properly.
  2. Reattach Fuel Rail: Secure the fuel rail back to the intake manifold with the original bolts, using a torque wrench to tighten to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  3. Reconnect Electrical Connectors: Reattach the electrical connectors to each injector.
  4. Reconnect Fuel Lines: Attach the fuel supply and return lines securely.
  5. Reinstall Engine Cover: Place the engine cover back on and secure it with bolts.
5. Finalize
  1. Reconnect Battery: Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Start Engine: Turn the ignition to the "ON" position without starting to prime the fuel system. Check for leaks.
  3. Test Drive: Start the engine and take the vehicle for a test drive to ensure smooth operation.
