Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and secure with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Remove the Oil Filter
  • Using an oil filter wrench, carefully unscrew the oil filter.
  • Allow excess oil to drain into a catch pan.
  • Inspect the rubber O-ring on the oil filter for any signs of damage or wear.
3. Inspect and Clean the Mounting Surface
  • Clean the oil filter mounting surface on the engine block with a lint-free cloth to remove any debris or old gasket material.
  • Check for any signs of damage on the mounting surface.
4. Install the New Oil Filter
  • Apply a small amount of new engine oil to the rubber O-ring of the new oil filter.
  • Screw the new oil filter onto the mounting surface by hand until snug, then tighten it an additional 3/4 turn.
  • Ensure it is not over-tightened to avoid damage.
5. Refill Engine Oil
  • If necessary, refill the engine oil through the oil fill cap to the recommended level, using the appropriate oil type specified in the owner’s manual.
6. Final Check
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes while checking for leaks around the oil filter area.
  • Turn off the engine and check the oil level, adding oil if required.
