Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: OBD-II scanner, manual tire pressure gauge, TPMS tool, socket set.
  • Ensure vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off.
  • Safety warning: Always wear safety glasses when working on vehicles.
2. Replace Faulty TPMS Sensor
  1. Remove the Tire:

    • Loosen the lug nuts using a socket set.
    • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure with jack stands.
    • Remove the wheel from the hub.
  2. Remove the TPMS Sensor:

    • Deflate the tire completely using the valve stem.
    • Break the bead of the tire using a tire changer or manually with tire levers.
    • Remove the sensor retention nut using a small socket or wrench.
    • Carefully pull the TPMS sensor from the valve stem.
  3. Install the New TPMS Sensor:

    • Insert the new TPMS sensor into the valve stem.
    • Secure it by tightening the retention nut to the manufacturer's torque specification (usually around 4 Nm).
    • Reinstall the tire onto the rim and inflate to the correct pressure.
3. Reset the TPMS
  1. Use the iDrive System:

    • Start the vehicle and navigate to the 'Tire Pressure Monitor' menu in the iDrive.
    • Select the option to reset the TPMS.
    • Confirm the reset and allow the system to recalibrate.
  2. Test Drive the Vehicle:

    • Drive the vehicle for a short distance (approximately 10-15 minutes) to ensure the TPMS recalibrates and the warning light turns off.
