Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which brake pads need inspection.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Using a lug wrench, loosen and remove the lug nuts.
  • Take off the wheel to access the brake components.
4. Inspect the Brake Pads
  • Visually check the brake pad thickness. Replace if they are worn down to 3mm or less.
  • Look for any uneven wear patterns or damage.
5. Replace Brake Pads (if needed)
  • 5.1. Remove Old Brake Pads

    • Locate the caliper bolts and remove them using a socket wrench.
    • Carefully lift the caliper away from the rotor and support it using a bungee cord or similar.
    • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • 5.2. Install New Brake Pads

    • Apply brake grease to the back of the new brake pads to reduce noise.
    • Insert the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
    • Reposition the caliper over the new pads and secure it with the caliper bolts, tightening to manufacturer specifications.
6. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts, then use a torque wrench to tighten them to the specified torque value (typically 80-100 ft-lbs).
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
8. Test the Brakes
  • Press the brake pedal firmly a few times to seat the pads properly.
  • Check for any abnormal noises or warning lights.
