Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, ratchet, serpentine belt tool, or a 3/8" drive ratchet.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface, and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts.
2. Remove the Old Serpentine Belt
  1. Locate the serpentine belt tensioner on the engine.
  2. Use the serpentine belt tool or a ratchet to relieve tension on the tensioner by rotating it counterclockwise.
  3. While holding the tensioner, slide the belt off one of the pulleys, then slowly release the tensioner.
  4. Carefully remove the belt from all pulleys, noting the belt routing for installation of the new belt.
3. Install the New Serpentine Belt
  1. Refer to the belt routing diagram, usually located on the underside of the hood.
  2. Begin looping the new serpentine belt around the pulleys as per the routing diagram, ensuring it is seated correctly in the grooves.
  3. Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise again and slip the belt over the last pulley.
  4. Release the tensioner slowly to apply tension to the new belt, ensuring proper placement.
4. Final Checks
  1. Inspect the belt to ensure it is correctly seated on all pulleys.
  2. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  3. Start the engine and observe the belt in operation for any irregular noises or movement.
