Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.

Tools Required:

  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Spring compressor (if replacing struts)
  • Wrench set
  • Pry bar
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is stable before proceeding.
3. Remove Old Shock Absorbers
  • For rear shocks:

    1. Remove the lower shock mounting bolts using a socket.
    2. Remove the upper mounting bolts located inside the trunk or under the rear seat.
    3. Carefully pull the shock absorber out of its mount.
  • For front shocks:

    1. Remove the wheel to access the shock assembly.
    2. Remove the lower mounting bolts using a socket.
    3. Remove the upper mounting nuts located under the hood, using a wrench.
    4. If struts are being replaced, use a spring compressor to safely remove the coil spring from the strut assembly.
4. Install New Shock Absorbers
  • For rear shocks:

    1. Position the new shock absorber into the mount.
    2. Secure the upper and lower mounting bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque.
  • For front shocks:

    1. If replacing struts, install the new strut assembly with the coil spring using the spring compressor.
    2. Position the strut in place and secure the upper and lower mounting bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque.
5. Reassemble Components
  • Reinstall the wheels and lower the vehicle.
  • Reconnect the battery and ensure all tools are removed from the work area.
