Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: funnel, clean rag, transmission fluid (if needed), fluid transfer pump (if applicable).
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the engine has reached normal operating temperature.
2. Checking Fluid with Dipstick (if equipped)
  1. Locate the transmission dipstick under the hood.
  2. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth.
  3. Insert the dipstick back fully, then remove it to check the fluid level against the markings.
    • If the level is low, add the recommended transmission fluid through the dipstick tube using a funnel.
    • Fluid type: Refer to the owner's manual for the correct transmission fluid specification (usually BMW ATF).
3. Checking Fluid Level via Fill Plug (if no dipstick)
  1. Locate the fill plug on the side of the transmission.
  2. Using a socket wrench, carefully remove the fill plug.
  3. Insert a fluid transfer pump into the fill hole.
  4. Pump transmission fluid into the transmission until it begins to trickle out of the fill hole.
  5. Replace the fill plug and tighten it securely to the manufacturer's torque specifications (typically 25 Nm).
